Introduction to Aggregate Supplies
Ever wondered what makes your garden path sturdy or your new extension stand the test of time? It’s all down to the quality of aggregates used. These unsung heroes of the construction world – including sand, gravel, and crushed stone – form the backbone of virtually every building project across Cambridgeshire and beyond.
At Cardinalis Concrete, we’re not just shifting tonnes of stone and sand; we’re providing the foundations upon which your dreams are built. Whether you’re laying a simple garden path or constructing commercial premises, we’ve got the perfect aggregate mix to suit your needs. Our commitment to quality means you’ll never have to worry about cutting corners – we’ve done the hard graft so you don’t have to!
Calculation Tools
Aggregate Calculator
Not sure how much you need? Don’t worry – we’ve all been there! Our handy aggregate calculator takes the guesswork out of ordering. Simply pop in your project dimensions, and we’ll tell you exactly how much material you’ll need. No more running short halfway through or ending up with a small mountain in your driveway!
Calculate your requirements using this simple formula: Length (m) × Width (m) × Depth (m) = Volume (m³) Then multiply by 1.8 for tonnage: Volume (m³) × 1.8 = Tonnes needed

sand products
Building Sand – Our fine-textured building sand is perfect for when you need that smooth finish. Ideal for bricklaying, pointing, and rendering, it mixes beautifully to create workable mortar that sets like a dream. Perfect for getting those bricks to sit just right!
Sharp Sand – Need something with a bit more bite? Our coarse sharp sand is the business for concrete mixes, screeding, and laying paving slabs. It’s the rough and ready option that provides excellent drainage and a solid foundation. No soggy patios on our watch!

Gravel and Stone
Pea Gravel (5-10 mm) – Not just a pretty face, our pea gravel adds a decorative touch to pathways and garden beds while serving as an excellent drainage solution. It’s small but mighty – just the job for those garden makeovers that need to look good and function properly.
10-20 mm Gravel – The workhorse of the aggregate world, our 10-20 mm gravel is brilliant for driveways, drainage systems, and as a sturdy base for concrete. It’s the go-to choice when you need something robust that’ll stand up to the elements (and we know all about those in Cambridgeshire!).

Crushed Stone & Sub-base Materials
MOT Type 1 Granite – If you’re after something that’ll take a proper beating, our MOT Type 1 Granite is just the ticket. It’s the gold standard for sub-bases in roads and driveways, offering outstanding durability that’ll last for donkey’s years. Those potholes won’t stand a chance!
Crushed Limestone – Versatility is the name of the game with our crushed limestone. It provides a solid base for all manner of construction projects and compacts beautifully for a stable foundation. A proper all-rounder, this one!

Recycled Materials
Recycled Crushed Hardcore
For those larger projects where budgets are tight but quality can’t be compromised, our recycled crushed hardcore is a winner. It’s cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and perfect for sub-base layers. Waste not, want not, as my gran used to say!

Frequently Asked Questions
We stock a comprehensive range of aggregates including sharp sand, building sand, ballast, crushed stone, gravel, limestone chippings, and decorative aggregates. Our materials are sourced from approved quarries and meet British Standards for construction use. Whether you need Type 1 sub-base for driveways, concrete sand for mixing, or decorative gravel for landscaping, we have the right aggregate for your project.
We deliver aggregates throughout Cambridgeshire using our fleet of tipper lorries in various sizes from 6-tonne to 20-tonne loads. Minimum orders typically start from half a tonne, though this may vary depending on your location and delivery distance. We can tip materials directly where access allows, or use grab lorries for precise placement in tight spaces or rear gardens.
Our experienced team can help you calculate the quantity required based on your project specifications. As a general guide, one tonne of aggregate typically covers approximately 12-15 square metres at 50mm depth, though this varies by aggregate type and compaction. We're happy to visit larger commercial sites to assess requirements and provide accurate quantity estimates to avoid over or under-ordering.
We aim to provide next-day delivery as standard, with same-day delivery often available for orders placed before 10am, subject to lorry availability and delivery location. During busy periods or for specialist aggregates that aren't held in stock, we may require 48-72 hours' notice. Emergency deliveries can sometimes be arranged for urgent construction requirements.

Whether you're a contractor needing bulk materials for a large development or a homeowner requiring a few tonnes for a garden project, we provide the same quality materials and professional service. Trade accounts are available with competitive pricing for regular customers.
