Line pumps typically manage horizontal reaches of up to 150 metres and outputs around 70 cubic metres per hour, making them the default choice for residential and smaller commercial work, especially concrete pumping for tight access sites such as back gardens, basements, and terraced streets.

 

Boom Pumps

A boom pump is a larger, lorry-mounted machine fitted with a folding articulated arm. The delivery pipe runs along the boom, and the operator positions the hose end by remote control, clearing obstacles in a single movement rather than laying ground-level pipework.

Boom sizes are quoted by reach. Smaller units extend to 24 metres; larger models reach 42 metres or more, enough to clear a three storey building. Output rates are considerably higher than line pumps, making boom pumps the economical choice for large slabs, suspended floors, and multi-storey pours.
